Chicago, despite being one of the most urbanized and advanced cities in the US, has an impressive array of parks and green spaces. It also houses some top plant nurseries.
In this article, we listed our favorite nurseries in Chicago to get plant delivery. Check them out and give your friends the best plant gifts you can find!

Established in 2003, Sprout Home is one of Chicago’s most well-loved plant shops. It’s one of our go-to stores when we need plants that thrive in low-light conditions.
It has an extensive plant inventory, including low-light plants like Dieffenbachia and Aglaonema. These are the perfect plants for those living in homes where the light source is obstructed by tall buildings around them.
They also have terrariums, which are great gifts for younger people who want a unique addition to their home.
You can have the plant delivered on the same day if you place your order before 6:00 PM. This is a great option for those looking for a last-minute gift to their friends.
It’s worth noting, though, that they only do live plant delivery within Chicago. Other products, like planters and garden accessories, can be delivered in the Continental US but not in other countries.
Their plants are also non-returnable, which is quite disappointing. Some plants can come with problems, like pest infestation or root rot, so being unable to return them can be a deal breaker for some.

High quality products; higher price point
“Very good service and quality products for a neighborhood nursery. A little pricey but reasonable for the location. Design/installation service is also good but pricey (fair for the neighborhood).” – George Chen, Google Reviews
2) Gethsemane Garden

Value for money | ★★★★☆ (4/5) |
One of the oldest garden centers in Chicago, Gethsemane Garden has been one of the city’s most trusted shops for plant delivery for almost 40 years.
It’s a one-stop shop with a wide variety of plants and garden supplies. It offers various house plants like bonsais, succulents, orchids, and air plants.
One reason we really love coming back to this shop is their 30-day guarantee on insect problems. Although we’ve never experienced having an infested plant delivered, it gives us peace of mind that we can refund or replace a plant if it has insects.
They also offer a one-year warranty for their trees and shrubs, meaning they’ll replace your tree with another plant or give you store credit if it dies within one year. Just make sure you still have your original cash register receipt.
We just find it quite inconvenient that we can’t order plants online. Their plant inventory isn’t online, and we have to personally go to the store to order even if we’ll have the plant delivered to a different address.
They also don’t do same-day delivery, so try checking out another shop if you’re in a rush.

Continuing the list of our favorite shops for plant delivery is Chicago Plants in Wicker North Avenue.
The shop has an extensive catalog of houseplants, from low-light and pet-friendly plants to tall and trailing plants. Most of their plants also come in various sizes, so you can choose one that can fit your space.
We’re also big fans of the rare plants that they have, like the Philodendron squamiferum and Monstera Thai constellation. We’ve gifted one to a friend who’s a huge plant enthusiast, and the staff were very helpful in explaining the plant to us.
Additionally, we find their repotting and maintenance services helpful, especially for novice plant owners. You can book them for a maintenance visit or drop your plant for repotting whenever you’re free, and they’ll gladly help you.
However, it’s a bummer that they deliver in a limited area. They can only do plant delivery within a 10-mile radius of the store, so they’re not the best choice if you’re looking to gift plants to friends far from the shop.
Some plants, like their rare plants, are also non-returnable. It’s best to purchase in-store to check the plant’s condition if you plan on buying a non-returnable one.

Plant Delivered Chicago is an online shop you can check out when looking for the perfect plant for your home or your loved one.
Their plant inventory includes low-light, easy-to-care, pet-friendly, and tall plants. Some plants you can get include Monstera deliciosa, white bird of paradise, fiddle leaf fig, Dracaena steudneri, and snake plant.
Our favorite thing about this plant shop is plant delivery within Chicago is free. This is especially helpful since their plants are pricier than other shops in the city.
We also love that they also do plant delivery to Chicago’s suburbs for a flat fee of $25. This made it easier for us to give a ZZ plant to a relative in Bridgeview.
Unfortunately, they don’t offer a same-day plant delivery option.
They also don’t do plant deliveries on Sunday. Hence, if you ordered a plant on a Sunday, expect it to be out for shipping on Monday or Tuesday, depending on when the plant arrives from Florida.

City Scents Floral & Home is a well-known floral and plant shop in Chicago that we often go to when we want to send more than just plants to our friends and relatives.
They have a lot of arrangements, from classic bouquets to colorful centerpieces. They also offer some gift products, like sweets, plushies, candles, and books.
They have a limited selection of plants online, though, so you may have difficulty looking for plants that will work for you. Some of the plants that they have online are snake plants, peace lilies, orchids, and succulents.
We prefer to visit the physical store since we have better choices there than online. There are also several garden accessories in the store that we can look into, making the visit more productive.
They offer a same-day plant delivery option, so you can have the plant delivered the same day you visit the shop.
Do note, though, that they’re closed on Sundays. If the only available day for you to visit the shop is Sunday, you might want to consider purchasing a plant from their online shop or look for a different shop with a wider range of plants.
